Mtende Beach & Kuza Cave

Last but not least, the last of the 6 Trips that we highly recommend for the first visit in Zanzibar is the Mtende Beach & Kuza Cave.

Here, at the end of the road that goes through the baobab trees forest, the Mtende Beach reveals itself but, only in times of low tide. You can wander around this paradise-like beach, swim in the calm waters of the Ocean or have a lunch at one of the only two restaurants that are in the area, all of this while you gaze the vast endlessness of the Ocean in complete silence. We don’t argue that it’s paradise on Earth but it’s as close as you can get to.

Later or before (depending on how the low tide falls) you will visit Kuza, a cave that was formed over 250.000 years ago and swim in the sweet turquoise water gathered inside the cave. For over 1.000 years, locals have been using this cave to perform voodoo rituals and magic here so there’s also an extra spice to this. You will find out more about this there.

At the end of the day, you can also make a quick stop in Paje or Jambiani to check these places if you didn’t had the chance to do it by now.
